Concentration Strategies

Concentration means focusing our mind on what we are doing. As a student, concentration while studying can be the hardest thing to do especially when they learn some topics that is not their favorite. Their concentration will get distracted and also can be disturbed for some other reasons, therefore they will not get interested in the class.


What Will Break Our Concentration ??

  • Lack of attention
  • Lack of interest
  • Lack of motivation
  • Distraction from others
  • Uncomfortable environment
  • Physiological matters - illness and tiredness
  • Psychological matters - personal problems, worries about life and anxieties

Strategies For Improving Concentration :
  1. Use motivational and organizational strategies - create interest in the work, develop a positive attitude toward your work, use good setting strategies, use time-management strategies
  2. Create a positive learning enviroment - find a better location, reduce multitasking and minimize distraction such as off your mobile phone
  3. Deal with internal distraction - deal with personal problems, deal with compering activities
  4. Use active learning strategies ( as discussed in improving memory )
  5. Match your learning style to  the task
  6. Monitor your concentration
